Lucca Comics & Games 2016

“Gold” is this year’s theme of Lucca Comics & Games 2016, the 50th Edition of the International Festival of Comics, Animation, Illustration and Games. 

The Festival takes place in Lucca from Friday 28 October until Thursday 1 November 2016. The exhibitions start on Saturday 15 October 2016. 

Some of the exhibitions are dedicated to the following artists:

- Kazuo Kamimura, Japanese manga artist and illustrator of “Lady Snowblood” in Palazzo Ducale in Lucca. 

- Frank Cho, Korean-American comic strip and book writer and illustrator, most known for his works “Liberty Meadows” in Palazzo Ducale in Lucca. 

- "Never abandon Imagination", an exhibition in Palazzo Ducale inspired on the artbook “Realms: the Roleplaying Art of Tony DiTerlizzi”, dedicated to the work of the American author and illustrator Tony Di Terlizzi, known from “The Spiderwick Chronicles” and “Dungeons & Dragons”.

At the Festival you can meet some of the following international guests:

Deanna Troi in Star Trek the next Generation
- Marina Sirtis, actress in the TV Series “Star Trek, the next Generation” (Deanna Troi). She will be at the stand of “Star Trek Italian Club” on 30 and 31 October. 

- Diego Vida, executive producer of Viacom, will be at the workshop CG Production for Movies and Games on 29 October. 

Brandon Sanderson
- Brandon Sanderson, American fantasy and science fiction writer and Guest of Honour 2016. He will be present throughout the event from 28 October until 1 November at the stand of Fanucci and he will participate in a few workshops. 

- Philip Reeve, English author of, among others “Mortal Engines Universe” (in the USA “Hungry City Chronicles”), “Railhead” and “Goblins”. He will be present at the stand of Giunti Editori. 

- Monte Moore, American illustrator with more than 20 years of experience in comics, gaming, pin-up and entertainment illustration, will be present throughout the event. 

- Jason Engle, Steve Argyle and Tony DiTerlizzi, American illustrators known from “Dungeons & Dragons” and the collectible card game “Magic: the Gathering”; Larry Elmore, an American fantasy artist known from “Dungeons & Dragons” and David Cook, American game designer, known from “Dungeons & Dragons”. 

Terry Brooks
- Terry Brooks, American fantasy fiction writer, known for a series of books which have recently given birth to the television series “The Shannara Chronicles”. 

The Festival's program offers autograph sessions, workshops, entertainment, performances and much more, all related to the different categories which are represented at the event: movie, video games, comics, games, Japan, music & Cosplay and junior.

Teatro del Giglio
The Awards of the 50th Edition of Lucca Comics & Games will be presented on 28 October 2016 at the Gala Evening in Teatro del Giglio in Piazza del Giglio in Lucca.
